Hidden Cove

After a long rainy spell of miserable weather, we woke to a warm, sunny day in early March and decided to hike to a hidden cove we had heard about.  Some good friends were up for the adventure as well so we headed off to the other side of the Akrotiri peninsula and drove about 15 minutes to where the road ends.  We spotted the cove from high above the water and the view was breathtaking!

The rocky trail that led down to the water was precarious at times but we took it slow and even the kids did great (brave little explorers!)We were rewarded with an empty beach, cool (VERY cool) crystal clear water, white pebbly sand, and warm sun on our backs.

The water was still cold but too inviting to resist!

We enjoyed a picnic on the beach and lots of “chillaxing” (Silvia’s word!) for most of the afternoon.

Halfway point

Now we’re itchin’ to find more hidden treasures like this one around the island!

(Anon) Here's my journey: Enjoying my short life on this earth one moment at a time by being intentional with God, family, traveling, cooking, gardening, Colorado living and all the perks that come with it, playing guitar, listening more and talking less. I've discovered that both cooking and travel can be messy at times but the risks can have some amazing results. The same goes for life lived with passion.

This was by far my favorite location when paddling around the peninsula. The only problem I had was the times I padded there it was so smelly from the dump at the top of the hill. The wind would blow the smell right from the dump right down through the gorge. I just wish I had visited it on a day when there was no smell. It is a gorgeous, secluded location. Here is a post I did of one one of my paddles through the area: http://www.justusbarkers.com/2010/10/longest-paddle-yet/. Miss you guys!

Matt, No smell at all that day but since noone seems to know the name of this cove perhaps we should just call it “Smelly Cove”. Miss you guys, too!!!
